If You Like It, Drink It

There’s no right or wrong way to enjoy good wine, beer, and food, although we do always recommend “with friends”.

It’s May already. How did that happen? We’re just a few weeks away from summer. Better make the most of what’s left of spring. As a nation of mainly beef, pork, and chicken eaters, spring is the time we can take advantage of lamb dishes. Spring lamb is a tasty alternative to our usual meats. Stop in and try our Spanish-style lamb, seasoned with cumin and paprika. Maybe have it with some “Not-your-usual” veggie soup, or a tangy orange and onion salad, or bread and pâté.

“Special” beers are everywhere. There’s too many to put in the cooler but what we have just added is quite spectacular.  Weyerbacher’s Heresy is their Old Heathen Imperial Stout additionally aged in bourbon casks. A rhapsody of dark malts and toasted oak make this a delicious treat. Heresy is made only once a year, in spring, so get it while it’s here. And yes, it pairs well with lamb. For a true English beer taste, we’ve added Cain’s Pub Ale, from Liverpool, home of The Beatles. There’s a choice of mild or bitter in an easy drinking, smooth alternative to your usual slurp.

New on our wine list is St. Supery Chardonnay from California. This “super” chard is not aged in oak, so you get the very best flavors of the fruit and its terroir, unmasked. We also have New Age, a South American blend of Torrontes but in a light, bubbly, frizzante style – perfect for hot days and warm nights. Served with a slice of lemon over ice. Perfect for some serious R ‘n’ R time …. and we’re all about that !!

As the weather warms, the drinks cool. Try a fruit wine smoothie. Yes, we can make you a refreshing fruit wine smoothie in several flavors – using real fruit wines made right here in Pinellas County. Try a delicious grapefruit wine in both bubbly and regular styles! How about fruit wine sangria? Yup, we have that too !
